Vernacular: Buckthorn Shoot-borer

Account: Nationally scarce (Na) in woodland margins on chalky soils and fens in parts of south-eastern England Can only be separated from S. lophyrella and S. janiszewskae by dissection of the genitalia. Larva feeds on buds, shoots and flowers of Alder Buckthorn and Buckthorn, living between flowers and leaves spun together with silk.
