Vernacular: Haworth's Pug

Account: Local in open woodland, scrub, hedgerows and gardens on alkaline soils throughout England and Wales Plain appearance, small size and lack of discal spot distinguishes adult from all but Lead-coloured Pug E. plumbeolata from which separated by ochreous base of the abdomen. Larva feeds on flower buds of Traveller's-joy and Cultivated Clematis, over-wintering as a pupa.
